How often is there a communion service at St Columba’s?

There is a communion service every calendar month.  It takes place on the first Sunday of the month.  You may take communion even if you are not a member of the United Reformed Church.

Is there a Sunday School?

Yes, there is.  There is run by experienced volunteers, and starts at 11am.  The children re-join the congregation service later on. It is provided free of charge. 

How long are the services?

Most services usually last about an hour.  Tea and coffee is available after the service in the Gibson Hall.

What work do you do in the community?

There are many aspects to our community work.

We currently have twelve Elders who assist the Minister with the direction and operation of the church.  They offer Christian leadership to members of the church and also provide pastoral care to members of the congregation and others in the community, including those who cannot attend services due to illness or other commitments.

St Columba’s is the home for St Columba Group Therapy Centre, which helps people who are experiencing difficulties in their personal lives. 

We have a hospital visitor who offers Christian fellowship to any individual who is treated at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

We regularly collect for national and local charities.  We are strong supporters of Christian Aid (www.christianaid.com) and we also collect for the Make Poverty History Campaign (www.makepovertyhistory.org).  We have a Traidcraft stall in the Hall that sells fairly traded goods.  This is available in the Church Hall after Public Worship (check the Newsletter for available dates).
