Worship & Local Mission

Through our Worship & Local Mission Group, St Columba's seeks to witness to the Gospel in practical ways in our local community of Cambridge.

We do this sacramentally through our worship on Sundays, and practically by supporting a number of local organisations and charities in Cambridge.

As well as hosting the St Columba's Group Therapy Centre, the Cambridge Chinese Christian Church, and Alcoholics, Debtors and Narcotics Anonymous groups, we have recently supported the following causes:

The Link House Trust - providing accomodation and hospitality for international postgraduate students.

Chaplaincy to People at Work - their work involves visiting people in their place of work, helping individuals with work-related problems, and helping the churches to engage with the world of work.

Cambridge DHIVerse - campaigns to raise awareness of and provide support for people with HIV and AIDS.

East Anglia's Children's Hospices - supports families throughout their experience of caring for children with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses.

Arthur Rank House - Arthur Rank House provides specialist palliative care services, for people over 18 who have a life threatening illness.

Galloway's Society for the Blind - Galloway's seeks to support people of all ages who have a sight loss and to enable them to gain an independent lifestyle, at the same time as minimising the effects of reduced vision.

Emmaus - Emmaus offers homeless men and women a home, work and the chance to rebuild their self-respect in supportive Communities.

We also support the chaplaincy at Oakington Detention Centre, in which those awaiting the outcome of Asylum applications or deportation are held.
